Step-by-Step Guide: Generate and Activate Your UAN Using Aadhaar FAT

Step 1: Download Required Apps

  1. UMANG App: Download the UMANG App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  1. AadhaarFaceRD App: Download the AadhaarFaceRD App to enable Face Authentication.


Step 2: Open the UMANG App

  1. After installing both apps, open the UMANG App.
  2. Navigate to \"UAN Allotment and Activation\" under the UAN services section.


Step 3: Enter Aadhaar Details

  1. Enter your Aadhaar Number and the mobile number linked with Aadhaar.
  2. The mobile number entered will be matched with the number registered with Aadhaar to send the OTP.


Step 4: Consent and OTP Verification

  1. Tick the checkbox to provide your consent for the process.
  2. Enter the OTP received on your mobile number linked with Aadhaar.


Step 5: Face Authentication

  1. The camera of your device will be activated to capture a live photo for Face Authentication.
  2. The color outline will turn from red to green once your photo is successfully captured (similar to how the Digiyatra app works).


Step 6: UAN Generation

  1. Once your face is matched with the Aadhaar database, your UAN will be generated.
  2. The UAN number will be sent to your registered mobile number via SMS.


Step 7: Download UAN Card

  1. After successful UAN generation, you can download the UAN card from the UMANG App or the EPFO Member Portal.
  2. The UAN will be auto-activated on the Member Portal for you to begin accessing EPFO services such as PF withdrawal, passbook viewing, KYC updates, and more.


UAN Activation for Existing Members

  1. If you were issued a UAN previously (by an employer, for example) but never activated it, you don't need to repeat generation, you need activation.
